Um grupo seleto de Brazilian business owners, Confederation presidents and executives, in an initiative by the MEB, juntamente com a Konekto, embarked on a strategic journey with the mission of understanding up close China's rise as a global powerhouse of innovation and business. This immersion, which exceeded initial expectations, was not just a trade mission or a tour, but a crucial bridge to the future of importing and entrepreneurship in Brazil.
Beijing: Tradition, Long-Term Vision and the Start of the Immersion
The long trip, which lasted nearly 30 hours with a layover in Dubai, culminated in the arrival in Beijing. The first day was dedicated to rest and a welcome dinner with typical Chinese food, providing a warm introduction to the local culture and hospitality.
The very next day, the group experienced a significant cultural moment while watching an elderly lady practicing Tai Chi Chuan in a park, with her slow, focused and harmonious movements. That simple scene symbolized the Chinese spirit of discipline, patience and purpose.
Next, the mission headed to the Great Wall of China. Climbing the stairways and taking in the landscape was a transformative experience, where each step seemed to symbolize the collective effort and long-term vision that drive the nation.
Four Days of Business and Innovation in Shenzhen
After the cultural introduction, the group dove into four intense days dedicated to business, visiting companies and institutions that are shaping the global future and that will soon have a direct impact on Brazil. The city of Shenzhen — the Chinese Silicon Valley — was the stage for the most disruptive visits, at the heart of innovation and high-tech manufacturing.
Among the visits, the highlights included:
- Plug and Play: One of the largest accelerators of startups in the world, a benchmark in innovation and in connecting companies and investors. The main lesson observed was the Dictatorship of Speed: the accelerated pace of Venture Capital and the culture of ultra-fast prototyping and scaling, validating and launching products in weeks, not years. Agility in this validation is the new global competitive edge.
- Meituan: A giant in services and delivery that is arriving in Brazil as a direct competitor to iFood, bringing a more integrated, technology-driven model. The strategic meetings to understand this giant's moves showed that competition in the Brazilian logistics and services market will be redefined by the efficiency and Chinese capital witnessed.
- DiDi Chuxing: The company that acquired 99 presented its expansion plans, with the official launch of its operation in Brazil already scheduled for January 2026.
- Sinomach: One of China's largest state-owned companies, operating in engineering, energy and infrastructure — a living example of China's industrial strength and scale.
Guangzhou: The Future of Mobility and the Engine of Global Trade
The journey continued to Guangzhou, where mobility and global trade were the focus.
- BYD: The group visited BYD, the world leader in electric vehicles and a symbol of the transition to a sustainable economy. There, they saw up close the workings of the Super Hybrid Off-road Platform DMO, understanding how electric mobility is already a large-scale reality in China. The conclusion was that Electrification with No Turning Back is a massive reality and that the Brazilian market needs to plan for this transition.
- Canton Fair: Still in Guangzhou, they took part in the Canton Fair (the Canton Trade Fair), the largest multi-sector and technology trade fair on the planet. It was two days of total immersion in innovation, new products and opportunities. More than buying, the goal was to meet strategic suppliers, explore trends and open doors to the future of smart importing. They identified the concept of Low-Cost, High-Tech, noting that China has moved past the “copy” phase and today exports patented solutions with optimized production costs.
Dubai: Consolidation and Strategic Connection
The journey ended in Dubai, a city that symbolizes prosperity, organization and global vision. It was the perfect setting for the group to reflect on everything they had experienced and consolidate the mission's purpose: connecting Brazil to the world in a strategic and sustainable way.
Benefits of the Immersion and Relational Capital
The true gold of the trip was the relational capital (Guānxi) built, essential for anyone seeking to operate globally. The group forged a solid network with Brazilian business owners from different sectors and began building ties with stakeholders in China.
5 Key Insights Brought Back from China:
- The Dictatorship of Speed: Agility in validating and launching products is the new competitive edge.
- The Power of the Super App: Integrating multiple services into a single app is the evolution of the customer experience.
- Electrification with No Turning Back: BYD's technological advances with the DMO Platform showed that electric/hybrid vehicles are a massive reality.
- Low-Cost, High-Tech: Seek strategic technology partnerships, not just generic products.
- A Culture of Trust (Guānxi): Business success in China requires establishing long-term relationships and trust.
A MEB and Konekto believe that true innovation happens when people and companies connect globally. This immersion was a bridge between cultures, markets and opportunities, opening the way for international growth and collaboration. The group came back with the future in hand, with lessons in agility, scale and technology that are already being applied to their businesses, redefining how they see the market: China is not the future, but the most accelerated present.
Next Opportunity
The mission's success ensures the initiative will continue. A new China Immersion is scheduled for April 10, 2026, taking a new group of professionals to experience these ecosystems of innovation, technology and business up close.
